A rich diversity of soils
Lake Longemer is surrounded by forests of diverse species, such as fir trees and beech groves. They testify to the diversity of the soils. Higher up, the "Saint-Jacques" stream forms a rich delta, filled with water lilies and aquatic meadows. The Bilon hill, where a hermit lived, is surrounded by ancient peat bogs. The varied fauna and flora of the area are protected under the policy of the Sensitive Natural Area of the Vosges.
