Lake Longemer is surrounded by forests of diverse species, such as fir trees and beech groves. They testify to the diversity of the soils. Higher up, the Saint-Jacques stream forms a rich delta, filled with water lilies and aquatic meadows. The Bilon hill, where a hermit lived, is surrounded by ancient peat bogs. The varied fauna and flora of the area are protected under the policy of the Sensitive Natural Area of the Vosges.
