A rich dining room

The dining room at Villa Majorelle is unique in its decor. It has the particularity of displaying, at the same time, the furniture of Louis Majorelle and the lighting of Daum with whom he collaborated. To enliven the ensemble, ceramicist Alexandre Bigot created a massive flamed ceramic fireplace standing in front of stained-glass windows by Jacques Gruber. The angles of the ceilings are widely rounded and support a bucolic frieze, painted by Francis Jourdain, that runs across the upper part of the walls. Farm animals stand amid fruits and mushrooms in a lack of perspective that makes the painting seem like a tapestry. Wheat-eared pieces of furniture complete the decor of the room.
