A rich and sought-after natural environment

The Montagne Noire (Black Mountain) certainly bears this name because of the significant vegetal mantle that covers its sides and, in particular, its northern slope. Its relief with multiple valleys, numerous streams, and deep gorges is also home to dense, thick, and colorful forests. The Montagne Noire extends from Sorèze to Labastide-Rouairoux, south of the Tarn, and is sought-after by hiking and nature enthusiasts. The mountainous massif presents very contrasting and preserved landscapes between dark forests on the northern slope and vineyards, scrubland, and olive trees on the southern one.
