The development of Concorde was divided between Great Britain and France. British Aircraft Corporation designed the nose and tail section, the vertical stabilisers and electrical systems, the engines and their power supply, and the de-icing system. Sud Aviation was responsible for the flight controls, the hydraulic system, the navigation and radio systems, the central fuselage and the wing. Specific to supersonic aircraft, the delta wing of Concorde has a wingspan of 25.60 metres. A revolutionary aircraft that was too expensive to make profitable, Concorde was a commercial failure. Only sixteen aircraft were built.
