A reservoir and a refuge

Located at the top of the Montsec hill, Madine Lake is nestled between two valleys in the heart of the Woëvre plain. It borders the slopes of the Côtes de Meuse plateau, renowned for its local classified wines. Initially built as a water reservoir for the city of Metz and its surroundings, Madine Lake has become a refuge for hundreds of bird species. They come to nest on its shores or rest before migrating to warmer countries. A discreet observatory included in the landscape allows observing them without representing a disturbance.
