In the 1920s, artisanal activity in the historic Laguiole knife-making area declined. A deterioration due to the success of the knives, causing the relocation and industrialization of the manufacture in the town of Thiers. But from 1980, traditional manufacturing in the original village was reborn thanks to the town hall and the chamber of trades. The municipality of Laguiole and its 1,200 inhabitants are once again benefiting from the reputation of their knives.
