The dam of Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt was completed and put into service in 1902. With its water retention of 10,000 cubic meters and its catchment of 3.3 sq mi (5.4 km²), it replaced and increased the capacity of the first dam built in 1835, whose retention capacity was only 2,200 cubic meters. Today submerged, the wall of the initial dam remains visible in front of that of the current structure.
