The diversity of Normandy's landscapes, the greenness of its bocages, and the wild nature of its coasts have always attracted artists. Yport was first noticed by Camille Corot in the second half of the 19th century. He convinced Jules Dieterlé, Jean-Paul Laurens and his pupil Albert Fourié, and Auguste Renoir to join him. They immortalized the small seaside resort joined by writers, poets, musicians, and journalists who formed vivid intellectual centers.
