The only species of phœnicopterid (family of flamingos) represented in Europe, the greater flamingo (Phœnicopterus roseus) is an anseriform wading bird tinged with pink, a real curiosity among the European avifauna by its silhouette and its unique colors. It is widely present in Africa and Asia while in Europe only France - and particularly Camargue - and Spain host nesting colonies in spring.
