A protected bird species in France
2
0
France hosts about 25% of the population of flamingos present throughout Europe. It is in the Camargue region that most of them come to breed and nest. The flamingo population has been stable for several years and this species is therefore not an endangered species but recognized as a protected bird in France since 1981. However, the degradation of its habitat by urban planning and mass tourism has created a real danger for flamingos. This bird is very fearful and sensitive to the disturbances of its environment, and in particular, these disturbances caused by humans.
