The tuffs of the Tufs waterfall of Planches-près-Arbois and of the Cuisance stream form a rare and endangered habitat identified at national and European levels. Any removal of tufous material is strictly prohibited there. Beyond its geological interest, the site shelters a protected biodiversity and typical plant and animal species. Among them, we can mention the Dipper (Cinclus cinclus), the Common Trout (Salmo trutta fario) and the Chabot (Cottus gobio).
