A probable hide for privateers

Near Fermanville, l'Anse du Brick (Brick Cove) is bordered by the eponymous cape and has a sandy beach. It is highly popular among windsurfers for the east and west winds that blow offshore. Two hypotheses still clash today on the origin of its name. Some believe it was inspired by the two-master sailboats used by the privateers who would have come to protect themselves in the cove. Others maintain that the name of l'Anse du Brick is of Viking origin and means hill that descends to the sea.
