The Marais du Cotentin et du Bessin Regional Nature Park is part of the network formed by 51 regional nature parks in France. Four of them are in Normandy, and these territories with a rich and diverse heritage are highly valued nationwide. Between bocage, moors, and the Normandy coastline, the Marais du Cotentin et du Bessin Regional Nature Park constitutes a privileged setting for an internationally recognized diversity of fauna and flora. The park was created by a decree of May 14, 1991, to highlight its wetland that, when covered with water by winter floods, seems as if it had turned to white.
