Semi-pelagic, therefore evolving in medium-deep seabeds, the whitefin shark (Carcharhinus longimanus) feeds both on bottom-dwelling benthic fish or pelagic fish living in the 'open water', between the surface and the bottom. It also attacks rays, some small sharks and cephalopods. Its teeth of different shapes allow it to cut pieces of flesh by shaking its preys.
