A port built at the end of the 19th century

The marina of Le Lavandou is located opposite the islands of Levant and Port-Cros. It extends in a natural cove formerly equipped with a simple landing stage that fishermen once used to shelter their boats. Protected from the mistral by Cap Bénat and the easterly winds by Cap Nègre, it forms a marina made up of the historic old port, built at the end of the 19th century, to which has been added a new one enlarged between 1980 and 1983. The first quay dates from 1880, just like the first 492 ft (150 m) long jetty destroyed by the Germans on August 16, 1944.
