The long wooden pontoon of Martinique's Le Carbet beach juts out into the Caribbean Sea to the northwest of the island. Intended for the docking of boats, it is also a highly popular place for walks by locals and serves as a diving board for children. A little before sunset, the inhabitants settle there to fish. It is indeed under the pontoon that fish like to hide and that one can observe numerous octopuses, trumpet fish, and starfish.
