Docile and polyvalent, the Comtois horse is used today for all kinds of tasks. In rural areas, in addition to forestry work, it can be hitched to plowing, harrowing or haymaking machines and used to maintain the vines, particularly in organic farming. In peri-urban or urban areas, it avoids the noise and soil damage of heavy machinery and is locally used for garbage collection or various municipal maintenance works for green spaces (watering, mower or brush mulcher traction).
