A space dedicated to art and culture on an island in the Seine, the Seine Musicale consists of a group of buildings designed by architects Shigeru Ban and Jean de Gastines. It occupies a 2.35-hectare plot of land transferred by the city of Boulogne-Billancourt to the Hauts-de-Seine departmental council for a symbolic €1. The elements of the project – the Grande Seine, the Auditorium Patrick Devedjian, the large foyer, the rehearsal and recording rooms, the offices of the resident ensembles, the restaurants and the shops – occupy a surface area of 119,750 sq. ft. (36,500 m²). The green roof is part of the architects’ environmental commitment.
