A plateau-shaped volcanic island beaten by waves

0
The Table du Diable (Devil's Table) is an uninhabited volcanic islet on the Sainte-Anne peninsula located near Pointe d'Enfer in the south of Martinique. It takes the form of a rectangular-shaped plateau of one acre (0.4 ha) circumcised by 36 ft (11 m) high steep cliffs. The islet bears such name for the breaking waves of the Atlantic that constantly assail it and seem to emerge from hell. Many protected species of birds such as the brown noddy, the bridled tern, or the sooty tern find refuge there.
