A plant popularized by Jean Giono

Born in Manosque in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department, Jean Giono (1895-1970) is undoubtedly the most famous promoter of the literary capital of lavender. He wrote many essays, articles, and books that give pride of place to Provence and the plant. In his posthumous collection Provence, Giono presents lavender as the soul of Haute-Provence. However, Pierre Magnan (1922-2012), also from Manosque and a friend of Giono, was the first to explicitly mention the lavender from Puimoisson and Valensole plateaus.
