Port Racine and its surroundings were one of the favorite places of Jacques Prévert, who owned a house next door, in Omonville-la-Petite. The locals often saw him meditating above the small cove or writing and drawing. Prévert discovered the area's hinterland in the 1930s and came to settle permanently in 1970. He previously stayed at the Hôtel l'Erguillère, the former residence of the privateer who founded Port Racine, and bathed in summer and winter.
