In 2021, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Marcel Proust, the Normandy seaside town of Cabourg revived the Proustian universe of Balbec by opening its Villa du Temps Retrouvé. The site constitutes a place steeped in nostalgia dedicated to the cultures of the Belle Epoque and the golden age of the Côte Fleurie (Flowery Coast). Marcel Proust, who stayed in Cabourg during the summer period from 1907 to 1914, is the tutelary figure of this place and the inspiration for the contents of the museum. The Villa du Temps Retrouvé symbolically allows visitors to find the time (i.e. the era) sought by the writer in his masterpiece.
