A photogenic and remote village

Nestled in the limestone rocks of the Massif des Calanques, the village of Les Goudes faces the island of Maïre and is sheltered from the high seas by a dike. This former fishing village marks the last terrestrial border of Marseille. Particularly photogenic, the site served as a location for some films by Jean-Pierre Melville and as a pied-à-terre to Fabio Montale, the disillusioned policeman hero of Jean-Claude Izzo's novels.
