Nestled in the limestone rocks of the Massif des Calanques, the village of Les Goudes faces the island of Maïre and is sheltered from the high seas by a dike. This former fishing village marks the last terrestrial border of Marseille. Particularly photogenic, the site served as a location for some films by Jean-Pierre Melville and as a pied-à-terre to Fabio Montale, the disillusioned policeman hero of Jean-Claude Izzo's novels.
