A Norman tradition

Calvados has been distilled on Norman farms since the 15th century. The after-dinner liqueur has been available in 3 AOC (Controlled Designation of Origin) terroirs since 1942: Blanche de Normandie, Domfrontais, and Pays d'Auge. Its amber color comes from its aging in oak barrels for at least two years. More fruity at first, it takes on subtle aromas after four years (vanilla, Pays d'Auge hazelnut, spices, or new wood). The brandies of the Galotière farm are all labeled Pays d'Auge AOC and distilled twice.
