Cross-country skiing is a nature sport that had around 2.7 million followers in France in 2016. It remains a highly seasonal holiday activity for a third of the enthusiasts, 12% of which have the equivalent of a practice volume of one week per year. The median age of the onset of cross-country skiing practice is fifteen years old, with an initiation most often within the family or with friends.
