The Dentelle (Lace) section occupies the second level of the Musée des Beaux-Arts et de la Dentelle (Museum of Fine Arts and Lace) installed in part of the former Jesuit college of Alençon in the Orne department. Labeled Musée de France, the site is the heir of a first museum created on the initiative of Léon de la Sicotière and inaugurated within the walls of the town hall of Alençon on July 15, 1857. From its foundation, this establishment aimed to bring together collections of encyclopedic nature. The tour of the permanent collections is enriched with temporary exhibitions that make it possible to present pieces stored in reserve and to extend the heritage collections to contemporary creation.
