A museum divided into three sections

Located in the prestigious setting of the former Jesuit college in the heart of the Cour Carrée de la Dentelle, the Musée des Beaux-Arts et de la Dentelle (Museum of Fine Arts and Lace) in Alençon is divided into three distinct sections. The first part is centered on the know-how of Point d'Alençon lace inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO since 2010. Devoted to the material culture of Cambodia at the end of the 19th century, the second section of the museum brings together works from the collection of Adhémard Leclerc, a French administrator in Indochina between 1886 and 1911. The third section, dedicated to the Fine Arts, is organized as an encyclopedic journey through the French, Italian, and Nordic painting schools from the 15th to the 20th centuries. It ends with the highlighting of artists from the Orne department and impressionist painters from the school of Saint-Céneri.
