Located in the Savoie department within the Pays du Mont-Blanc-Beaufortain, the municipal forest of Albertville covers 760 acres (307,6 ha) of generally moderate slopes interspersed with rocky escarpments and ravines. Terraced between 1,148 and 5,905 ft (350 and 1,800 m) above sea level, it consists of three different tenements: the Rhonne forest on the Grand Arc side, the Haut du Pré forest on the Beaufortain side, and an isolated plot near the Fort du Mont. Its stands are mostly leafy up to about 3,280 ft (1,000 m) in altitude, where they become increasingly resinous with a dominance of spruce.
