A monitoring semaphore

Located in the municipality of Bormes-les-Mimosas in the Var department, Cap Bénat is subject to careful monitoring of the risk of fire and its attendance. It is provided by the Municipal Forest Fires Committee from the white semaphore that overlooks the entire cape and opens widely onto the islands of Hyères. Formerly owned by the Ministry of Defense, the semaphore is now managed by the municipality and the Syndical Association of Owners of Cap Bénat (ASPCB). The presence of wine estates on the slopes of Cap Bénat also constitutes firebreak zones.
