A monitored predator-prey relationship

In 2017, a Prédateur-Proies Lynx (Lynx Predator-Prey) program was set up for ten years in the Jura and Ain departments. It aims to scientifically answer questions about the ungulate-environment balance. Various scientific organizations lead the project with the help of KORA, an organism specialized in the monitoring of large predators in Switzerland. It endeavors to improve relations between hunters and the Eurasian lynx, often accused of taking too many deers and chamois. A lynx hunts about 60 ungulates per year, which is quite low compared to an average density of 1,000 deers in an average territory of 38 sq miles (100 km²).
