A medieval bastide

0
The medieval bastide of the town of Mirepoix is located in the Pays des Pyrénées Cathare (Pyrenees Cathar country). Following a major flood in 1289, Mirepoix was completely rebuilt according to the regular plans usual in bastides, but the town square has retained its original medieval appearance and structure. The couverts (sculpted wooden beams) dating from the 15th century, the half-timbered houses, and Mirepoix's famous Maison des Consuls in carved wood still stand as testaments to the town's history.
