A massif spread over eleven municipalities
0
0
Mont Ventoux, also nicknamed the Giant of Provence or Mont Chauve, stretches about 15.5 mi (25 km) in length along an east-west axis and 9.3 mi (15 km) in width from north to south, representing a total area of approximately 64,250 acres (26,000 ha). Its geographical isolation and its white color linked to its essentially limestone nature make it visible over great distances. Located less than 12.4 mi (20 km) as the crow flies northeast of Carpentras in the Vaucluse department, its massif made up of several passes and steep slopes is spread over the territory of the eleven municipalities of Aurel, Beaumont-du-Ventoux, Bédoin, Brantes, Flassan, Malaucène, Monieux, Saint-Léger-du-Ventoux, Sault, Savoillan, and Villes-sur-Auzon.
