Lake Servières is a maar lake. It extends at 3,943 ft (1,202 m) of altitude inside a volcanic explosion crater between the Puys d'Augère and Combe-Perret in Puy-de-Dôme. The department became the owner of Lake Servières in 2019. It covers an area of 37 acres (15 ha) in the locality of Orcival and near that of Vernines, inside the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Nature Park.
