Robert Marichy's wood-turning workshop is an institution in Arinthod, in the Jura department. He is one of the last turners to perpetuate this ancient Franche-Comté tradition, and his workshop has been established for 84 years. The only modern element is the electric lathe whose cast-iron pulleys and leather straps are fixed to the ceiling and driven by an engine. Robert Marichy claims that they are original and still work. The rest of his craft lies in three generations of know-how.
