Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud, who became master perfumer of the Louis Vuitton house in January 2012 at the age of 50, comes from a long lineage of perfumers. His family taught him the detection power of the nose, similar to the way one practices a foreign language. His father and grandfather were indeed perfumers in Grasse, while his mother worked as an assistant to Edmond Roudnitska's master perfumer in Nice.
