A lighthouse with a misleading name

The Cap Bénat lighthouse was built at the end of the 19th century on a date made imprecise by the destruction of archives. It stands on the territory of the municipality of Bormes-les-Mimosas in the Var department, behind the old battery of Cap Blanc. Despite its name, the lighthouse is, in fact, implanted on Cap Blanc rather than on Cap Bénat, which extends slightly further north-east. 51 ft (15.55 m) high, the structure rises 208 ft (63.45 m) above sea level.
