The Cap d'Arme lighthouse stands at the extreme southern tip of Porquerolles, from where it offers a view of almost the entire island. Built in 1830, it is 67.7 ft (20.66 m) tall and rises 275,7 ft (84.06 m) above sea level. Its two-flash white light illuminated by a 1000-Watt halogen lamp has a range of 29 nautical miles (approx. 54 km). Listed as a Historical Monument in 2012, the lighthouse was saved from destruction in 1944 thanks to its guardian Joseph Pellegrino.
