A life revolving around the community

Flamingos are birds whose lives revolve around the community and their colonies. They stay most of the time grouped in bands of smaller or bigger size and indulge in drafts of nuptial behavior that can last a whole day, about two months before the nesting period. Couples form amid the collective parades, and the two adults most often stay together for a few days before finally mating and building their nest. Once their only egg has been laid, flamingos do not experience family intimacy. Couples of the same family nest very close to each other about 1.15 ft (35 cm) apart.
