The Explorers
The construction of the Saint-Pierre parish church of Castellar in the Alpes-Maritimes department began around 1487. Its foundation was decided shortly after the transfer of the new village to its current site on Saint-Sébastien hill in 1435. It succeeded a more ancient church oriented according to an east-west axis and smaller than Saint-Pierre Church.
