Exposed by ocher mining, the original geological formations of the Provençal Colorado are also the result of differential erosion linked to the degrees of hardness and solubility of the rocks as well as wind erosion. By acting by deflation - tearing up of loose sediments - and by corrasion – rock shaping by the grains of quartz carried by the wind - it contributes to the unique shapes of the Luberon landscapes.
