Ottrott is a village in the Vosges foothills, at the feet of the mountains. Its territory covers 6,177 acres (2,936 ha), mainly occupied by forests. It is bounded to the south by Mont Sainte-Odile and to the north by the Ehn valley. The first written mention of the village dates from a 1059 manuscript. Ottrott's most famous grape variety is Pinot Noir. Its origin dates back to 1109 when the Benedictine monks of Saint Leonard brought young vines from Burgundy.
