A land of diverse vineyards

Luberon is a land of vineyards with no less than fifty-two independent cellars, ten cooperative cellars, and a union of producers. The vineyards located between 656 and 1,476 ft (200 and 450 m) above sea level benefit from the mild Mediterranean climate, an annual sunshine rate of 2,600 hours, and a large temperature range during the day. These climatic characteristics favor the maturation of the grape varieties and the good re-hydration of the vine. AOC (Controlled Designation of Origin) wines and local wines of the three colors are produced there, even though the rosés represent 53% of the production against 26% for the reds and 21% for the whites.
