Located on the territory of the municipality of Saint-Agnan in the Yonne department, the eponymous artificial lake is surrounded by arable land and forests, these landscapes occupying respectively 67.4% and 26% of the municipal area. It is also part of the Morvan Regional Nature Park, an ecotourism territory renowned for its bocages, meadows, forests, and fields interspersed with wetlands. In general, the Morvandelle forest visible here on the edge of the lake consists of 54% pure deciduous stands, 35% conifers, and 11% mixed forest.
