The lake of Longemer and its surroundings have been classified as remarkable sites since 2002. On the outskirts of the lake stand a few peaks overlooking it: Le Haut de Saint-Jacques (1,138 m / 3,700 ft) and Le Fachepremont (1 086 m / 3,500 ft) to the south, and Le Boulard (1,075 m / 3,450 ft) to the north. On a clear day, one can see a good part of the Vosges mountains from there. The lake of Longemer stretches in a valley, enclosed between two wooded slopes of fir trees.
