Some 41 miles (66.7 km) long, the Cousin has a catchment area of 227 square miles (366 km²) mainly located in the Yonne and Côte-d'Or departments, both in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region. It takes the name of Trinquelin at the exit of the Lac de Saint-Agnan and flows into the Cure in the locality of Givry.
