Inside the Haut-Koenigsbourg castle

With 3,7 acres (1,5 ha), the Haut-Koenigsbourg is the largest fortified castle in Alsace. Inside its ramparts and guard towers, it is home to various courtyards and a maze of corridors. Spiral staircases lead to the lord's apartments. As in every medieval castle, the light barely passes through the stained-glassed windows. Heavy doors, in thick oak with forged reinforcements, lead to the rooms decorated with regional furniture.
