The highest coastal village in Europe, the medieval locality of Sainte-Agnès extends in the Alpes-Maritimes department. Its territory covers 3.6 sqm (9.37 km²) in the extreme southeast of mainland France. Sainte-Agnès is bordered by Castillon to the north, Peille to the west, Gorbio to the south, and Menton to the east, and extends less than 12.5 mi (20 km) from the principality of Monaco.
