Located in the commune of Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, the Galas aqueduct bridge is owned by a public establishment, the trade union association of the Carpentras canal. Became the symbol of the canal since its inauguration in 1857, it was listed in the Historic Monuments by a decree of November 6, 2001. The Carpentras canal earned its founder and first director, Louis Giraud (1805-1883) mayor of Pernes-les -Fontaines, to be elevated to the rank of knight of the Legion of Honor by Napoleon III.
