Built around 1030 on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Sorgue river, the Castle of Vaucluse, today in ruins, is in the Gothic and Provençal Renaissance style. Also known as the Castle of the Bishops of Cavaillon and partially destroyed in the 16th century, it was listed as a Historical Monument in 1931. This free access site is open to the visitors of Fontaine-de-Vaucluse every day of the year.
