The Toulon Provence Méditerranée conurbation manages the 2,224 acres (900 ha) of the Salins d'Hyères owned by the Coastal Protection Agency since 2001. It wishes to share this element of the town's cultural and industrial heritage by preserving the memory of the gestures linked to the salt production abandoned in 1995. The conurbation plans to revive the site, without harming its ecosystem nor its biodiversity, by putting back into service, on a heritage basis, a small salt production unit of the Salin des Pesquiers.
